An open-air swimming pool operator required an effective deterrent & detection PIDS to prevent unauthorised access to their sites during out of hours times.

The system had to offer a visual & psychological deterrent and in the event this was not enough to dissuade would-be intruders, to detect unauthorised access so that a suitable response could be initiated.

Additionally, as the owners of the site, they had a duty of care to any individuals on-site, including those who were not permitted, to protect them from the obvious dangers of accessing swimming pool sites when safety staff were not present.

Our solution

The Harper Chalice PulseSecure system was selected as it offers both a deterrent, in the form of a non-lethal electric shock and intruder detection in the event of an attempt to climb over the fence.

The system can be operated in both ‘Shock & Detect’ during out of hours and ‘Detection Only’ mode during normal opening hours to avoid accidentally shocking staff & visitors.

The system can be armed & disarmed via the alarm panel or via the freely available App.

Challenges

Due to the public nature of the sites it was necessary to carry out works whilst the site was in use by members of the public and particular care was required to ensure works were carried out safely.
